About KausePlay
A nonprofit built on a simple idea: every kid deserves to meet their hero.
Mission
KausePlay creates imagination, comfort and fun for children facing an array of medical challenges by connecting them with trained volunteer cosplayers, providing character visits and creating an inclusive, medically-safe fan experience with a dedicated convention for immunocompromised children and their families.
Vision
A world where all children, regardless of health challenges, can experience the normalcy yet wonder of creativity and community that fandom provides, in a safe way.
Core values
Everything we do is measured against these five values.
Safety
An environment where children’s health, comfort and emotional wellbeing always come first.
Magic
Imagination and laughter can bring light to hard days and promote healing.
Inclusion
Every child, family, and volunteer is welcomed, respected and celebrated.
Integrity
We operate with transparency, professionalism, and responsible stewardship of resources.
Community-Driven
We partner with families, hospitals, volunteers, and sponsors to create meaningful impact.
How we work
Family-centered
Every character visit starts with a conversation. We ask what the child loves, what they need, and what they don’t, and we plan around them.
Safety-first
Volunteers are background-checked and trained on hygiene, character conduct, and hospital-appropriate interaction before they meet a child.
Partnership-ready
We partner with hospitals, families, and community sponsors on their protocols, on their terms, and in their spaces.
